Lauri Borgmeyer, M.A., L.M.H.C.

Master of Arts in Counseling – Western Seminary

Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Life is a journey. Often, however, individuals focus too much on the final destination and forget about the trip itself. When life becomes difficult, I partner with individuals to assist them in overcoming obstacles and challenges.

I am passionate about helping women and teen girls achieve balance, health and wholeness in their lives. I believe that all individuals are uniquely gifted. I strive to help clients discover their unique purpose in life and achieve the success and joy they desire. I compassionately assist and partner with individuals to help them explore their past, thoughts, feelings, choices, relational patterns and behaviors and help them promote growth and achieve positive change in their lives. I am genuinely committed to offering my clients grace, compassion and understanding while integrating Biblical truth with therapy techniques. I obtained my Master of Arts in counseling from Western Seminary (Portland, Oregon). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington (LMHC 5630) and a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

I have worked in community mental health with children and adolescents on a variety of issues including ADHD, depression, anxiety, social skills, anger management, abuse, communication and identity. I have worked with parents on solving parenting issues and improving their skills. I have also worked in a local domestic violence shelter for women and children. My most recent experience focuses on partnering with women and teen girls on issues including eating disorders, abuse, infidelity and co-dependency.  I am committed to community outreach in my church. I have participated in women’s ministry leadership, facilitated a mom’s group and enjoy singing on worship teams. I am available to speak on a variety of issues.

Mae Soderquist-Bell, M.A., L.M.H.C.

Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling – George Fox University

Bachelors of Science – Oregon State University

I am passionate about my work at CHARIS Counseling Associates. My practice focuses on complete wellness and has included working with individuals, couples and families. I have seen clients suffering from depression, anxiety, fear, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, divorce, infidelity, sex addiction, emotional/physical and economic abuse, career transitions, parenting issues, adoption, blended families, substance abuse, gambling and disabilities. I am directly and actively involved in each case and seek to help clients fulfill their life dreams.

I strongly encouraged my clients to be engaged not only inside each session but also outside by doing assignments: seeing their primary care physician, doing homework and self-development assignments and sometimes joining a specialized support group. Some counseling strategies that I use include sand tray, reading from the leading experts, assessments, Child Parent Relationship Training, Cognitive- Behavioral and Solution Focused Techniques.

I graduated from Oregon State University in 1984. My teaching career has enhanced my counseling practice immensely. I taught refugees,  exchange students, teen parents, and homeless people. My classes have included: healthy relationships, prenatal health, parenting, substance abuse, domestic violence, family stress and loss and career development. I graduated in 2008 from George Fox University with a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have a Mental Health Counselor Associates License in Washington State. I am married and have four children: three that recently graduated from college and one still attending. No matter how bleak or terrible our circumstances are in life, I firmly believe God is truly the Divine Healer and we should never give up HOPE.
