AMY ADAMS | MA, LMHC, NCC
Hello, I’m Amy.
I’m so glad you’re here. Reaching out for support for your child can feel like a big step, and I’m honored to be considered as part of your family’s journey.
Working with children and families is truly one of the greatest joys of my life. I specialize in supporting children ages 5–12 and deeply value building meaningful connections with both kids and their caregivers. I view therapy as a collaborative process — one where children have a safe place to be themselves while we work together to better understand challenges, build new skills, and create lasting growth.
My goal is for children to feel comfortable, understood, and empowered in therapy. I strive to create a space that feels safe, playful, supportive, and structured, using approaches tailored to each child’s unique personality, developmental stage, and needs. Sessions may include conversation, play, creative activities, skill-building, and practical tools that help children better understand their emotions and develop healthy ways to cope.
My therapeutic approach draws from several evidence-based modalities, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and phobias, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also bring previous experience as a Behavior Analyst, which gives me a strong foundation in understanding behavior and helping children and families develop practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life.
I deeply value partnering with parents and caregivers throughout the therapy process. You know your child best, and your insight is incredibly important. I enjoy collaborating closely with caregivers to provide support, encouragement, and tools that strengthen connection and confidence both at home and beyond.
I have worked with children and families in therapeutic settings since 2012. Today, I specialize in supporting children experiencing OCD, anxiety, phobias, ADHD, depression, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am especially passionate about treating pediatric OCD, and I also work with individuals with OCD across the lifespan, from young children through adulthood. Over the past several years, I have also gained extensive experience providing therapy virtually and have seen how meaningful and effective telehealth can be for children and families.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy live musical theater, teaching music classes for young children and their parents, spending time with my church community, caring for my many houseplants, and taking my dogs, Marceline Dion and Fionna, out for walks.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English from California Baptist University and my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Seminary. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington (LF61552821) and California (LMFT109392).
It is truly a privilege to do this work, and I would be honored to walk alongside your family. I look forward to connecting with you and your child.
