JUDY SPENCER | LPC (OR), LMHC (WA)

Hi, I’m Judy.

I care about the whole person. My heart’s desire is to see people thrive, become their best selves, build meaningful relationships, and experience hope no matter where you’re starting from. I have been providing counseling in various forms for the past 25 years, and I became a licensed counselor in the USA in 2021. I especially enjoy helping people navigate life transitions and discover what truly matters to them.

For the past five years, I have specialized in DBT therapy. What I love most about DBT is supporting you in building a life worth living. I enjoy helping you clarify what you want for your life, identify what may be holding you back, and develop practical tools to move forward. My approach is evidence-based, compassionate, and focused on helping you achieve meaningful change.

I often work with individuals seeking healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Many of us have learned unhelpful patterns, and it can be challenging to recognize what true intimacy looks like. I help people set boundaries, communicate effectively, and create connections that feel satisfying and authentic.

I identify as Christian and actively engage in my faith community. I welcome clients of all beliefs and seek to support the framework that sustains you. I see every person as valuable and unique and find great meaning in collaborating with clients to discover “beauty from ashes” and rebuild life after loss.

I work with clients ages 17 to 70+, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD or trauma history, social anxiety, ADHD, borderline personality traits, suicidal ideation, and challenges with interpersonal effectiveness. I also work with individuals impacted by partners or family members with personality disorders and am comfortable supporting LGBTQ clients.

My professional and life experience is broad. I initially trained as a registered nurse and cared for medically fragile children in their homes until 2024. I have lived and worked overseas for 18 years, enriching my understanding of multicultural experiences. I hold a Master’s in Career Management and Counseling from Birkbeck College, University of London (2003), where I provided career counseling for five years, and I earned my counseling degree from Western Seminary in 2011.

Outside of work I love being outdoors, hiking, camping, or simply tending my garden. I enjoy cooking for family, hosting celebrations, and traveling to see my grandchildren who mostly live far away.

If you are looking for a compassionate, practical, and faith-sensitive approach to counseling, I would be honored to support you on your journey toward growth, healing, and a more fulfilling life.
