KANYIMBE KER | LMHCA (WA), Professional Counseling Associate (OR)

Welcome! I’m Kanyimbe.

I provide a calm, empathetic space for individuals (14+), couples, and parents to process challenges and foster growth. My focus is on the “here-and-now”—inviting you to explore the thoughts and feelings surfacing in the present moment.

How I Can Help

I work with clients navigating a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Emotional Well-being: Depression, anxiety, self-esteem, & experiencing suicidal ideation/self-harm.

  • Healing from the Past: Grief, trauma, and addiction.

  • Relationships: Relational conflict and attachment wounds.

  • Parenting Support: ADHD, autism, parent/child conflict, and defiant or aggressive behaviors.

My Approach

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): An experiential approach where we identify "stuck" patterns, express underlying emotions and needs, and practice new ways of relating to yourself and others.

  • Parent Management Training (PMT): For parents, I offer this practical, skills-based approach to navigate behavioral challenges effectively.

  • I also incorporate several other evidence-based approaches as needed, including Internal Family Systems and Common Factors trauma therapy.

About Me

The relationships I build with clients are very meaningful to me, and I try to learn from each person I meet with.

Outside the office, I'm usually enjoying life with my wife and newborn daughter, or getting lost in a great book. My Christian faith orients me while also fostering curiosity about other ways of life. Having lived across Mozambique, South Africa, and now the Pacific Northwest, I bring a global perspective to my work and an awareness of the complexities of culture.
